black yarn start by chaining 22
Row
1: 1 hdc in third ch from hook , hdc in each st across row, ch 2 ,
turn. (20)
Row
2-16: Repeat row 1 until you have 16 rows or your piece measures 5”
by 5”.

Applique:
Round
1: ch 2 , 8 sc in the second ch from hook , do not slp st. (8)
Round
2: 2 sc in first st , (place st marker), 2 sc in every st around , do
not slip st. (16)
Round
3: * 2 dc in first st, (place st marker), 1 dc in next st *, repeat
between the **'s for 4 more sts , slp st in next st, 1 dc in next st
, 2 dc in the next, repeat for 4 more sts,( switch to green yarn ),
sc one sc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1 , turn , 1 sc in both sts,
ch 1 , turn , 1 sc , ( change to orange yarn).
Round
4: *2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts *, repeat between the **'s
until previous slp st, slp st in previous slp st, * 2 sc's in first
st, 1 sc in next 2 sts *, ( repeat until you get to the green stem of
the pumpkin), slp st and fasten off leaving enough tail to sew with.
Sew
the pumpkin on to the black square you just made and tie it off.
Trim:
Round
1: Slp st and ch 2, 2 dc in first st , ( ch2 counts as 3rd
dc), 2 dc in 8 sts , sc in next st , ch 10, sc in next st , 3 dc in
every st around, slp st, ch1.
Round
2: Sc in every st to ch 10 piece, 10 sc's in 10 ch 10 piece, sc in
every st around, fasten off and weave in ends.
