    Please Read : Do not leave young children unattended with one of these . They have buttons and handmade items can come apart just like store bought .

 

Materials:

Redheart yarn in colors you need

Scissors

Yarn needle

Buttons

4.25MM or G hook

Abbreviations:

ch-chain

hdc-half double crochet

sp-space

st-stitch

sts-stitches

blo-back loops only

flo-front loops only

Repeat between * -Means to repeat the directions between the two star symbols

Gauge:

2"x 2" swatch = 5 rows and 7 hdc

Main Body:

Ch 21

Round 1- Hdc in second ch from hook and all the way across to second to last ch , 3 hdc in last ch , hdc on opposite side to create the first round making sure to crochet around the chains , when you get to last chain hdc 3 in last chain . Do not join .

Round 2- *Hdc in next 21 stitches and 3 hdc in next st * repeat between * one more time . Do not join .

For remaining rounds hdc in rounds until both width and length are close to equal . It should end up being about 6 1/2 inches both ways . Slp st in beginning st . Do not fasten off continue to next step .

Flap with button holes to close:

Row 1- Hdc in next 22 sts , ch 1 , turn .

Row 2- Hdc in blo all the way across , ch 1 , turn .

Row 3- Hdc in flo all the way across , ch 1 , turn .

Rows 4-5 - Repeat rows 2-3 one more time .

 

Row 6 - In blo ,  hdc in next 3 sts ,ch 1 , sk next st , * hdc in next 4 sts ,ch 1 , sk next st * repeat between * two more times , hdc in last 3 remaining sts , ch1 , turn .

Row 7- In flo , hdc in next 3 sts , hdc in ch 1 sp * Hdc in next 4 sts , hdc in ch 1 sp * repeat between * until you have the last 3 sts remaining . Hdc in last 3 sts and fasten off making sure to weave in ends .

NOTE : You should have the same amount of stitches you started with .

Last step is to sew on the buttons making sure to line them up correctly with the button holes we just created . Make sure to double knot the buttons when tieing them on , I triple knot mine .

Heart Shaped Eye Patch:

Ch 2

Round 1: 8 hdc in second ch from hook , do not slp st ,

Round 2: Hdc , dc , trc , dc , hdc all in next st , hdc ,dc , trc , dc , hdc in next st , sc in next 2 sts , slp st and fasten off leaving enough tail to sew with .

Ears outside (Make 2):  

Note: Outside ears make one white and one pink .

Rows 1-5 : Hdc across , ch1 , turn .

Row 6: Hdc decrease , hdc in next st , hdc decrease in last 2 sts , ch1 , turn .

Row 7-8 : Hdc across

Row 9: Sc around ear making 2 sc in bottom corners of ear , hdc decrease when you get to the top of the ear , hdc in next st , slp st and fasten off .

Inside Ears (Make 2):

Make one light pink with a dark pink border and another light pink with a white border .

Nose :

Round 1: Hdc across to second from last ch , 3 hdc in last ch , hdc on opposite side of ch to second to last ch , 2 hdc in last ch , slp st and fasten off .

Small Feet (Make 2):

Start with light pink and either magic circle or ch 2 to start .

Round 1: 6 hdc in second ch from hook , do not slp st , switch from light pink to white .

Round 2 : 2 hdc in each st around , do not slp st . (12)

Round 3-4: Hdc around, do not slp st .

Round 5: Hdc decrease 6 times , do not slp st , stuff foot .

Round 6 : Hdc decrease twice , slp st and fasten off .

Big Feet (Make 2):

Make one Light pink and white and the other light pink and dark pink . To start either magic circle or ch 2 .

Round 1: 8 hdc in second ch from hook , do not slp st .

Round 2 : 2 hdc around , do not slp st . (16)

Round 3-4: Hdc around , do not slp st .

Round 5: Hdc decrease 8 times , do not slp st , stuff foot .

Round 6 : Hdc decrease 3 times , slp st and fasten off .
